Death Cab For Cutie ~ Meet Me On The Equinox

Personal friends and acquaintances all know of my extreme distaste for the Stephanie Meyers penned Twilight series. And even more of the bland cinematic adaptations that have subsequently spawned by MTV fueled fandom. (Who the hell has ever heard of vampires glittering in the sunlight, it just sounds silly). Despite all of this the soundtrack to the newest film in the saga “New Moon” has been on a continuous loop since it’s release. A feast of some of the years most somber and melancholy tracks recorded by names MTV still hasn’t uttered (e.g. Editors, Anya Marina, Grizzly Bear). The music an artists on display have crafted a soundtrack much more sophisticated than the movie it’s attached to and far beyond the listening tastes of the film’s target demographic. The album is definitely a “must have”, but a ticket to the premiere…..not so much

It’s unbelievably difficult to compose a manifesto detailing your latest brainchild effort to carve out your own niche in the blogosphere when you’re running on less than a half an hour of sleep and five cups of extra caffeinated tea…….but here goes. For the past 11 years I’ve fancied myself as kind of a nouveau music savant. My eyes always focused ever forward like astigmatic high beams on the sonic highways of the future. Monthly I compile a playlist of all the scattered, odd and beautiful sounds I’ve passed on my journey down those roads. And as of today I’ve decided to share my travelogues with all of you.
